  • What are the dates of the Festival?

    Sunday 19 February to Thursday 23 February 2023. Our official events commence from Sunday evening.

  • What is the cost of Registration?

    Registration Fees are listed on our website here. Concession rates are available. All individuals participating in the event will need to be registered.

  • What do we get for registration and when will registration open?

  • I am not in a choir. Can I participate as an individual singer?

    Absolutely! We welcome all singers to participate. On registration, just register as an individual singer. Individual singers will be part of the Individual Voices Choir who will have a designated Music Director and accompanist.

  • How can I learn the music in preparation for the festival?

    There will be a range of online resources to help you learn and become familiar with the music that you will be singing. All registered participants will receive a link to learning tracks and PDF sheet music for the Massed Choir repertoire.

  • What happens if a choir’s accompanist cannot travel to the festival?

    If you find yourself without an accompanist, please advise and we will put you in touch with someone who may be available to work with your choir during the Festival.

  • Where will we be performing?

    Performances are scheduled to take place across the city in some of Sydney’s iconic venues and in places of historical significance to the LGBTIQ+ community. A full schedule is available on our Festival Program page.

  • Will keyboards, amplification etc. be available for all rehearsals and performances?

    The creative committee will work with Music Directors to discuss requirements and facilitate arrangements as required.

  • Will venues be accessible for all performers?

    Yes, we are planning for venues to meet accessibility requirements of participants and our audiences. If you have accessibility needs or require support, please indicate on registration.

  • Are there any COVID precautions to help keep people safe and healthy during the Festival?

    We are committed to making the Festival as COVIDSafe as possible.

    It is not a requirement to wear masks in Sydney, though it is strongly encouraged by NSW Health to wear masks in crowded spaces and on public transport.

    We recommend carrying an N95 mask and a small bottle of hand sanitiser with you at all times.

  • Is there any opportunity for billeting?

    We are aiming to have some billeting available for people who would like the experience of sharing a home with a Sydneysider, however numbers of available spaces are not yet known.

  • Is there any other support for accommodation?

    A local LGBTIQ+ travel provider has made several block bookings across hotels and serviced apartments for the period of the Choral Festival and Sydney WorldPride and may be able to assist you. If interested please contact www.planetdwellers.com.au

  • What is schedule of events for the festival?

  • What other events are happening for Sydney WorldPride?

    Sydney WorldPride will commence on 24 February 2023 and there are a range of activities through to 5 March 2023. This includes a Mega Mardi Gras and much, much more. For all the details visit www.sydneyworldpride.com.

  • Will there be any information sessions about the Out & Loud & Proud Choral Festival?

  • When and where is registration for the Festival?

    Registration takes place on Sunday 19 February from 2pm to 5pm at Pier 2/3, 13A Hickson Rd, Dawes Point. Once you arrive, there will be signage to point you towards the correct entrance.

  • What if I am not arriving in Sydney before 5pm on Sunday?

    If for any reason you cannot register on Sunday, please let Tonina know, and we will ensure your welcome kit is available for collection at the Wesley Conference Centre on Monday morning

  • Do I need to attend all of the rehearsals on the program?

    All scheduled rehearsals are very important, and everyone is expected to attend all the rehearsals, especially the daily Massed Choir rehearsals and the Thursday technical rehearsals.

    Participants should speak to their choir’s Music Director if they are going to have trouble making any of the rehearsal times.

  • What should I do with my music during performances?

    During the Massed Choir performances, all singers must have their music in a black folder. If singers are using a digital device for their music (like an iPad), please ensure that it has a black cover.

    For separate choir performances, the use of folders is at the discretion of your conductor.

  • What should I bring with me each day?

    Please make sure you bring your own water bottle and black folder for music.

    Morning tea and lunch will be provided Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

    You will need to bring your own food to Sydney Town Hall on Thursday for the Gala Concert rehearsal day, as catering is not provided!

  • What should I wear each day?

    The dress for rehearsals is casual and comfortable.

    Registrants will be given an OLP t-shirt as part of registration. You may choose to wear this throughout the Festival (other than at performances).

    Please consult with your Music Director re clothing for different performances throughout the Festival.

  • What will the weather be like during the Festival?

    It will be summer in Sydney.

    In February, the average temperature in Sydney ranges from 18°C to 26°C (65°F to 78°F), and average humidity spikes to 65%. However, it is common for February to have temperatures around 30°C (86°F), along with afternoon rain and high humidity.

    This is a great time to enjoy Sydney's beaches when water temperatures rise to 22°C to 23°C (71°F to 75°F).

  • How do I find out more about getting around Sydney?

  • Will there be a quiet room available during the Festival?

    Yes. A quiet space has been made available at the Festival Hub (Wesley Conference Centre) for use during break times for those who require it. Ask a volunteer to point you in the right direction.

  • What do I do if I need assistance during the Festival?

    If you need help or questions answered at any time during the Festival, please look out for a volunteer in a red t-shirt who will be able to assist you.
